The Hinton Historical Society (HHS) exists to collect and share the unique history of this region in a way that engages and educates. Our Board of Directors oversees the staff and strategic direction of the Northern Rockies Museum.
The HHS was formed in 2003 with the initial purpose of preserving Hinton’s Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Station House, the oldest building in our town. Over the next fifteen years, HHS members worked to renovate the station and do historical preservation work in the community, such as tours, historical signage, and events.
The Northern Rockies Museum opened in the Station House in 2017. Since then, the HHS continues to oversee the museum as well as provide a connecting point for all people in our region who have an interest in local history.
How to Get Involved
-
By buying a membership with the HHS, you allow us to put faces and names to our supporters. You contribute to the museum financially, and you also give us the opportunity to include you in our events and programs. We love meeting people who are as interested in this history as we are!
-
The HHS is a non-profit and registered charity. Our staff is a small team and depends on HHS volunteers and the Board to fulfill our mission. That could be you: we have opportunities for all interests and skill sets.

Donations from our community keep our mission alive! Please consider donating to help us preserve our unique local history.
